Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal
Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal was a commemorative medal struck by the Canadian Mint celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of Her Majesty's reign as Queen of Canada. The medal was awarded to Canadians who have made a significant contribution to their fellow citizens, their community or to Canada. It was issued in 1977.
In order that the list of those to be honoured would be representative of all the regions of Canada various organizations including all levels of government were invited to propose the names of candidates of the medal.
Approximately 30,000 medals issued, including 7,000 to the Canadian Forces, 5,500 to the regular force and 1,500 to the reserve forces. Approximately 30,000 of the British Version of the medal were given out including 9,000 to the British Armed Forces.
